HOW-TO: Natural Textures at Altuzarra by Odile Gilbert

At this weekend’s NYFW F/W 16 Altuzarra show, Odile Gilbert created modern textures on the models with unique hairstyles that suited each individual based on their hair type.

This classic hair look, “reminiscent of both Sharon Tate in the 60’s and Kate Moss in the 90’s,” features natural movement and clean imperfections. To break down what she did, we broke the step by steps down depending on hair type.

STRAIGHT + WAVY HAIR

1. Prep hair with Nutritive Bain Satin 1 and Lait Vital.
2. On damp hair, apply the NEW! L’Incroyable Blowdry Lotion all over hair for heat protection, added moisture and style memory.
3. Apply Mousse Bouffante to the mid-lengths and ends of hair. 
4. Next, twirl hair in 1″ sections and roughly blow dry with a diffuser, resulting in a tousled, natural look. 
5. Flip the head over and fluff up hair at the crown of the head. 
6. Spray Laque Dentelle all over for a flexible hold. 

CURLY + NATURAL HAIR

1. Prep hair with Nutritive Bain Satin 1 and Lait Vital.
2. On damp hair, apply the NEW! L’Incroyable Blowdry Lotion all over hair for heat protection, added moisture and style memory.
3. Apply Curl Fever and roughly blow dry hair with a diffuser. 
4. Touch up curls with a small, 3/8″ curling iron. Curl hair in tight ringlets all over, as needed. 
5. Fluff and shake curls (do not brush) at the crown of the head to give a natural, tousled finish. 
6. Spray Laque Dentelle all over for a flexible hold.
